The Spice Isles

Sneak peak of my trip to the Caribbean! Two countries, eight days. It's been almost two weeks since I've come home but I still have a few thousand photos to look through. 😅

Here are some quick thoughts about my trip and a few photos to go along with them:

There was a lot of destruction in the Caribbean but it was all made beautiful by the rainforest overgrowth.

When the coral reef became endangered, one man created the worlds first underwater sculpture park to help promote reef growth. Each sculpture has a significance or back story. This was one of the first sculptures to be placed. It depicts a ring of children holding hands and represents adaptability. Children learn and grow in their environment and so will the reef in its time.

I've never seen an ocean so calm; barely a pull of the tide on the shore. It was like standing in an infinite perfect pool.

I've been asked why I put this photo upside down. There's a science to it where I have compared the ocean and water to space and a lack of gravity where sense of direction should never be assumed but honestly more than anything I love the gradient the ocean makes, no matter which way you view it.

He told us to stand next to the "breasts of St. Lucia:" The Pitons. I gave him my camera and I hesitated for a moment, but then I decided that I can run faster than him, though I never needed to test it.

In the town of Soufrière, down a one way mountain road, long after the ruins, past the ⭐️5 star⭐️ villas, a whiff of suntan lotion and expensive shades, between the Piton mountains, is Sugar Beach. And it's hard to beat.

This is Bushman. We met him on accident when we were exploring the shore. He climbed a tree to show us the fruit that grows wild. He showed us fresh cacao which tastes sweet and sour but mainly delicious. He also cut open a fresh coconut for us. He did this with his homemade machete. Bushman was very kind. Be like Bushman.

They recommend to avoid scuba diving while you have congestion issues. But what's a nose bleed when I can dive 50 feet under water with no more than 15 minutes of training. It's nothing compared to the vibrant coral reef and sea life I saw while I was oot and aboot.
